• The panel drags or sticks in the track. This usually means the rollers have flattened or the axle has corroded. DIY or Call Us?

There is no high-tension spring or electrical hazard in a Therma-Tru sliding door, but the panel itself is the danger. A standard 6-foot dual-pane panel weighs 120 to 180 pounds, and impact-rated glass adds another 40 to 60 pounds. Lifting it without proper support risks back injury and, more commonly, a cracked corner that turns a roller job into a full panel replacement.

What you can safely check: vacuum the track, lubricate with a silicone-free PTFE spray, and inspect the roller wheels through the bottom frame access holes with a flashlight. If the wheels are cracked, flat-spotted, or the axle wobbles, stop there. Panel removal requires two people, padded sawhorses, and knowing which side of the panel carries the fixed roller and which the adjustable, because reversing them binds the door.
